With the project called La Banda - inspired by the band tradition which is so well established in Sicily and has strongly influenced the birth of the language of Jazz - Francesco Cafiso tells in music his land, a place of great historical and cultural treasures, the many dominations, the linkage of the Mediterranean and the crossroads of Europe, characterized by many contradictions; a harsh land, severe, yet warm and welcoming.
The artist, together with the extraordinary musicians Giovanni Amato (trumpet and flugelhorn), Humberto Amésquita (trombone),
Mauro Schiavone (piano), Pietro Ciancaglini (acoustic bass) and Jonas Burgwinkel (drums), proposes a adventurous and exciting journey, describing the colors, the flavors, the landscapes and the costumes of Sicily with the propellant and innovative force which is typical of his style.
The group's sound is intense, sophisticated and of an evocative charm.
Con il progetto La Banda, ispirato alla tradizione bandistica tanto radicata in Sicilia, che ha fortemente influenzato la nascita del linguaggio jazzistico, Francesco Cafiso racconta in musica la sua terra, luogo di grandi ricchezze storiche e culturali, delle tante dominazioni,
cerniera del Mediterraneo e crocevia d’Europa, caratterizzata da mille contraddizioni; una terra aspra, severa, eppure calda e accogliente.

As the show goes on, from the first to the last note played by Francesco Cafiso and Mauro Schiavone, a very deep feeling shines through. Creativity, feelings and artistic madness spring inevitably from two souls who speak the same language.
The repertoire of the Duo consists of passages taken from the new discographic record of Cafiso entitled 3, the first one entirely made up by his original compositions.
The project, consisting of three different albums released at the same time - Contemplation, La Banda and 20 cents per note - sees Cafiso acting as composer, arranger and conductor, besides being one of the most renowned musician among the greatest in the world.
Cafiso, with his warm and lyrical voice, dislocates the melody of the pieces, building amazing solos for their originality and creativity.
Schiavone guarantees his colleague a real voiced background, creating with the keyboard of his piano very classy modern and melodic lines which are supported by a complex harmonic and rhythmic structure, without renouncing on valuable solos.
The result is a high-level dialogue between the two great artists in confirmation of the vitality and the prestige that the Italian Jazz enjoys all over the World nowadays.

Il repertorio del Duo è composto da brani tratti dal nuovo lavoro discografico di Cafiso dal titolo 3, il primo costituito interamente da sue composizioni originali.
Il progetto, composto da tre album diversi pubblicati in contemporanea - Contemplation, La banda e 20 cents per note - vede Cafiso nelle nuove vesti di compositore, arrangiatore e concertatore, oltre che di musicista già riconosciuto tra i più grandi al mondo.
Cafiso, con la sua voce calda e lirica, disarticola la melodia dei brani, costruendo assoli straordinari per originalità e creatività.
Schiavone assicura al collega un vero e proprio tappeto sonoro, creando sulla tastiera del suo pianoforte linee melodiche moderne e di gran classe, supportate da una complessa struttura armonica e ritmica, senza però rinunciare a pregevoli assoli.

Il Francesco Cafiso nonet, We Play For Tips, è un progetto entusiasmante che affonda le proprie radici nel jazz:
lo swing, il blues e la creatività sono i veri protagonisti di questa musica.
Ne fanno parte musicisti di notevole spessore artistico, dotati di particolari caratteristiche tecniche e timbriche che, oltre a generare un compatto suono di gruppo, godono di ampi spazi per improvvisare e dare il meglio di sé.
Il repertorio, fresco e variegato, è interamente composto da brani originali scritti da Cafiso e arrangiati per questo organico, al fine di ottenere un robusto e potente impatto sonoro molto simile a quello di una vera e propria big band.
Questa musica ha tanti colori e suggerisce un ampio ventaglio di emozioni e suggestioni.
Tutto il concerto è caratterizzato da una grande forza propulsiva, oltre che da un senso di ironia e grande energia in grado di coinvolgere tutto il pubblico.

The fresh and varied repertoire is comprised exclusively of original compositions written by Cafiso and arranged for this entity, aimed at obtaining a robust and powerful sonic impact, very similar to that of an actual big band.

Vinicio Marchioni and Francesco Cafiso 4et: L'inseguitore
Julio Cortázar (1914 –1984), è stato un vulcanico scrittore, poeta, critico letterario, argentino. Autore di Rayuela e altri importanti libri.
Il persecutore è il suo racconto breve più celebre, uscito nel 1959 e dedicato a Charlie Parker. Il testo diventa un banco di prova per l’incontro di due grandi personalità artistiche: la voce di Marchioni e il sassofono di Cafiso scaveranno questa storia per estrarne un compendio di arte pura, tra musica, vita e teatro.
Mettere mano a Il Persecutore (o Inseguitore) è come entrare in un tempio. Non solo del Jazz. Si ha a che fare con qualcosa di mistico come i concetti di tempo, creazione, morte e vita. Attraverso un sassofono e un genio che lo suona. Proveremo a “giocare” sul palco insieme a Cafiso, a intrecciare parola e musica cercando di riempire quei “buchi” di cui parla Johnny, per scongiurarli, trasformarli. Julio Cortázar (1914 -1984) was a volcanic writer, a poet, a literary critic, an Argentine. Author of Hopscotch and other important books.
The Pursuer is his most famous short story, published in 1959 and dedicated to Charlie Parker. The text becomes a testbed for the meeting of two great artistic personalities: the voice of Marchioni and the saxophone of Cafiso will dig this story to extract a pure art compendium of music, life and theater.
"Dealing with The Pursuer is like entering a temple. Not only of Jazz. It has to do with something mystical like the concepts of time, creation, death and life.
